School management software vs. school ERP
School management software usually starts from the academic day: classes, attendance, timetables, exams, homework. A school ERP starts from the office: fees, payroll, HR, procurement, audit. Most products are one with the other bolted on afterwards, which is why the same student so often exists twice. The alternative is neither: one operating system where both run on the same records from the start.

- Is access enforced on the server, per role and per school — or just hidden in the UI?
- Are money actions audited?
- Can a parent ever see another child's data by mistake?
- What is the pricing unit — per student, per user, per module?
- What is simulated in the demo versus live in production (e.g. GPS, SMS)?
The question is not which category a product belongs to. It is whether the classroom and the office are looking at the same record.
